Doubts Raised on Magazine’s ‘Baghdad Diarist’ By LOUISE STORY
Just who is the “Baghdad Diarist”?
It is a question that many people are asking The New Republic, the Washington political magazine that has been running articles attributed to an American soldier in Baghdad.
The author, who used the pen name Scott Thomas, has written three articles for the magazine since February, describing gruesome incidents in Iraq. Last week, The Weekly Standard questioned the veracity of the New Republic articles and invited readers with knowledge about the military or Baghdad to comment.
Outsourcing the Picket Line Carpenters Union Hires Homeless to Stage Protests
By Keith L. Alexander Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, July 24, 2007; A01
The picketers marching in a circle in front of a downtown Washington office building chanting about low wages do not seem fully focused on their message.
Many have arrived with large suitcases or bags holding their belongings, which they keep in sight. Several are smoking cigarettes. One works a crossword puzzle. Another bangs a tambourine, while several drum on large white buckets. Some of the men walking the line call out to passing women, "Hey, baby." A few picketers gyrate and dance while chanting: "What do we want? Fair wages. When do we want them? Now."
So I was watching Leno tonight and Fred Thompson came on. I thought it was interesting, because he basically said he was running without actually saying it.
I think he would do well. I would honestly like him running with Guiliani as his VP. I think they would make a good combination, and there would be nothing to fear about Guiliani's "values" if he is only VP. Both would also balance each other out nicely.
Congress's Approval rating is 7 points below Bush. All of this fuss Congress is making about Karl Rove and the Attorney General are making people dissatisfied in the Middle and on the Right. The Left is dissatisfied with the fact that the war is still happening. Looks like Pelosi is about to erode any power she has if she keeps it up.
MOST Iraqis believe life is better for them now than it was under Saddam Hussein, according to a British opinion poll published today.
The survey of more than 5,000 Iraqis found the majority optimistic despite their suffering in sectarian violence since the American-led invasion four years ago this week.( Read more... )

"The nation is in deep need for a mother figure who will lead the people out of a violent world and back into caring for the poor and the disabled, mostly caring for our children, our future."
Hillary wants to be a mother figure? Who the hell said that we needed a mother figure?
What would that even mean? Shes going to hug us and kiss our booboos and tell us its okay? Is she going to make us soup when we have a sickness and lie to us about how the world works to make us feel better? Is she going to be condescending and say "there there, I know best."
The US needs a leader. A leader does not comfort us. A leader leads us to success. A leader does not tell us "it will be alright." A leader fixes problems without coddling.
Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts?
By Timothy Ball
Monday, February 5, 2007
Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn't exist. And I am not the only one trying to make people open up their eyes and see the truth. But few listen, despite the fact that I was the first Canadian Ph.D. in Climatology and I have an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition. Few listen, even though I have a Ph.D, (Doctor of Science) from the University of London, England and that for 32 years I was a Professor of Climatology at the University of Winnipeg. For some reason (actually for many), the World is not listening. Here is why.
What would happen if tomorrow we were told that, after all, the Earth is flat? It would probably be the most important piece of news in the media and would generate a lot of debate. So why is it that when scientists who have studied the Global Warming phenomenon for years say that humans are not the cause nobody listens? Why does no one acknowledge that the Emperor has no clothes on?
Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Taj Mahal are candidates for new seven wonders of the world Nov 18 7:39 PM US/Eastern
Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Taj Mahal are candidates for new seven wonders of the world ELIANE ENGELER AND ALEXANDER G. HIGGINS GENEVA, Switzerland (AP) - A global competition to name the new seven wonders of the world is attracting widespread interest, with more than 20 million people voting so far, organizers say.
The Egyptian pyramids are the only surviving structures from the original list of seven architectural marvels. Long gone are the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Pharos lighthouse off Alexandria. Those seven were deemed wonders in ancient times by observers of the Mediterranean and Middle East.
SciFi Channel had a zombie movie, with Zombies in prison. It was called Dead Men Walking.
Okay, whatever.
This is what I hate.
1. Its in Prison. Why can't they lock the fucking bars? No amount of zombies can break down a sealed prison gate. Come on.
2. Why do zombies all act crazy. They wouldn't be. The werewolf might be, but zombies are dumb, not crazy. They wouldn't be as active, nor would they be chasing after living humans. They don't gain better smell. They would probably spend their time eating other zombies.
3. Why would a zombie eat a person, then suddenly stop? Gesh, thats lame. Like all animals, they would finish the food or drag it off for safe keeping.
4. Why would a zombie rip off an arm? How can you even do that? What about guts? Zombies don't have sharp fingers, unless they had crazy nails. They couldn't just rip organs open and then drop them on the ground. Thats kinda dumb in general.
5. Come on, if zombies are attacking why don't people have more sense? Its not hard to kill them all. In the Night/Dawn series, the humans were kicking ass. Who knows how the zombies got so far in Day/Land. Thats just weird.
6. If a zombie comes for you, run. Zombies don't know you are food. They have worse smell than humans do, as mucus membranes are the first to rot out. Eyes are the same way.
7. A zombie without hands or teeth cannot hurt you. I repeat, a zombie without hands or teeth cannot hurt you. How could they?
8. If zombies actually exist, there is no morality and thus any action is fair game. Kill everyone. If they aren't a zombie, they are just a body waiting to become a zombie. Remember, killing your friends is the best way to stop new zombies from existing. Hah!

" In the ad, Zucker, producer of SCARY MOVIE 4, recreates former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's 2000 visit to North Korea. During the visit, Secretary Albright presented North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il with a basketball autographed by former NBA superstar Michael Jordan.
An actress playing Secretary Albright is shown presenting Kim Jong Il with the Michael Jordan basketball, painting the walls of Osama bin Laden's Afghanistan cave and turning a blind eye to suicide bombers. In one scene her skirt rips as she changes the tire of a Middle Eastern dictator's limousine.
One GOP strategist said "jaws dropped" when the ad was first viewed. "Nobody could believe Zucker thought any political organization could use this ad. It makes a point, but it's way over the top."
Zucker is the producer and director of comedies such as "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun." In 2004, Zucker, a longtime Democrat, embraced the Republican Party based on concerns he had about national security issues and voted for President George W. Bush. "
Scientists to create 'frankenbunny' in big research leap
Scientists are planning to create a "frankenrabbit" by fusing together human cells with a rabbit egg.
It is hoped the "chimeric" embryos, which would be 99.9 per cent human and 0.1 per cent rabbit, could lead to breakthroughs in stem cell research which could one day cure diseases such as Alzheimer's or spinal cord injury.
The embryos will allow scientists to perfect stem cell creation techniques without using human eggs.
Plus, the "source" was from a made up blog. The blog was backup so ABC didn't get hit with the fallout like when they tried to claim Bush didn't serve in the guard:
